Busch Gardens Tampa has begun to release the terror-filled theme for Howl-O-Scream 2013 under the tagline, “Once every century, on precisely the thirteenth year, evil comes out to play.” It seems this year’s event will surround “The 13″ – but who are they and what horrors will they inflict on guests? That much still remains a mystery for now.
Howl-O-Scream 2013 will be held beginning September 27 and ending October 26, with no “Freaky Preview” weekend this year. Busch Gardens Platinum Pass Members will still receive free admission on the first two nights of the event.
It’s not yet known which haunted houses and scare zones will appear at Howl-O-Scream 2013. Last year’s event added the Circus of Superstition, in celebration of the event’s 13th year. Now in 2013, Howl-O-Scream reaches 14 years of frights, with specifics revealed in the coming weeks.
Busch Gardens has promised to reveal more of “the 13″ – the evil that will preside over Howl-O-Scream 2013 come Halloween season. Revealed by unlocking one of the chained doors on the event’s web site, the first of these diabolical baddies was named today as the Voodoo Queen.
Her name is Desiree Yanes and Busch Gardens has given her quite the story.
Desiree Yanes came home one night and found her husband with another woman. Enraged, she ran off and disappeared inside the dark swamplands of Louisiana. There, she crafted voodoo dolls and swore then to torment them…with unspeakably sadistic tortures. The Voodoo Queen continues to hide in the swamps of the bayou and perform her twisted Voodoo rituals for others seeking revenge.
Also announced with the Voodoo Queen is a new haunted house for 2013: Death Water Bayou. Inside Ms. Yanes will mystically transform lost wanderers into her minions of evil with black magic while her night servants roam with a zombie-like hunger and seek to grow her collection.
