Construction Milestones Continue at Shanghai Disney Resort

Recently, construction at Shanghai Disney Resort reached a major milestone as the first permanent concrete piles were installed for the Enchanted Storybook Castle.

This magical landmark stationed at the heart of Shanghai Disneyland will be a stunning centerpiece for the park and a true sight to behold. Designed to be the world’s tallest and largest Disney castle, it will be complete with a beautiful winding staircase leading to special experiences, and a host of entertainment, dining, and performance selections for guests to enjoy.

Progress is also underway on a project that will increase the overall energy efficiency of the resort’s operations. The Shanghai Disney Resort Management Company recently announced the adoption of a leading new environmental technology in the form of the Combined Cooling, Heating, Power Plant (CCHP). The CCHP is a grid-tied, gas-fired power plant, which co-generates cooling and heating via engine waste heat, and produces compressed air by self-generated electricity.

This key infrastructure project serves as just one example of Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to promoting sustainable technology and supporting local partners in its development.

On opening day, Shanghai Disney Resort will include Shanghai Disneyland, two themed hotels, a 46,000-square-meter (495,000 square feet) retail area, a dining and entertainment venue, recreational facilities, a lake and associated parking and transportation hubs.
