Royal Caribbean will debut two shows onboard its newest Quantum-class cruise ship, Anthem of the Seas.
In addition to the Broadway musical, “We Will Rock You,” previously announced by the line, passengers on the ship will be treated to an original Royal Theater production show created specifically for Anthem of the Seas. Royal Caribbean describes “The Gift” as “a musical journey of fantasy and illusion that begins one stormy night with the arrival of a magical gift.”
The line also will debut a new show in Two70. “Spectra’s Cabaret” features “the Maestro and his Agents of Rhythm as they invite you to an electric multi-dimensional cabaret.” Like other Two70 shows, “Spectra’s Cabaret” blends live performances with pop music and digital imagery.
Royal Caribbean also revealed the date set for Anthem of the Sea’s float-out. Currently under construction at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg shipyard in Germany, Anthem will float out February 21 and undergo thruster and stabilizer tests in the shipyard’s harbor.
Anthem of the Seas will carry 4,180 passengers, will feature 16 passenger decks, and is scheduled for launch this April in Southampton. Like its sister ship Quantum of the Seas, Anthem will feature the North Star, a jewel-shaped glass capsule that rises 300 feet above sea level; RipCord by iFly, a skydiving simulator; and SeaPlex, the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea, with everything from bumper cars and roller skating, to video gaming and a circus school complete with a flying trapeze.
The ship will be based in Southampton during summer 2015, offering Mediterranean itineraries before redeploying to Cape Liberty in New Jersey where it will sail seven- to 12-night Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries beginning November 2015.
