Dining on a Disney
Cruise Ship
On a Disney Cruise Vacation, food is
something that you will come across quite a bit. To give you an idea
of what to expect, here are summaries of a few of the fantastic
restaurants you will experience:
Topsider Buffet
This is a great place to wake up with you morning coffee and enjoy
the beautiful view this restaurant has to offer. Take pleasure in
the classic breakfast buffet of pancakes, omelets, a variety of
meats, and fresh fruit. Topsiders Buffet is a great place to spend
your morning enjoying the simplicity of life.
Animator’s Palate
This is one of the most interesting restaurants that Disney has to
offer. The walls of Animators palate are covered with screens that
portray Disney artwork. Your dinner starts with these pictures in
black and white and by the end of the night they are a vibrance of
color. This restaurant is a combination of fantastic dining and the
magic of Disney animation. Everything in the restaurant is a
representation of art, including the beautiful dishes that it has to
offer. Cheese filled Cannelloni, Dry Aged Grilled Sirloin Steak Au
Jus, and Baked Salmon Steak are just a few of the entrees you will
come across on the menu. There are also the Chef’s Recommendations
including Duck and Goat Cheese Flat Bread and Maple-glazed Salmon.
To finish it off you can pick from Strawberry Shortcake,
Double-Fudge Chocolate Cake, or get really artistic with the Ice
Cream Sundae.
Parrot Cay
This will probably be you first stop on the ship. To get you started
right, Disney Cruise Line will have a wonderful buffet full of
classic and uncommon dishes for you to indulge yourself. To accent
this beautiful dining hall are enormous porthole windows that give
everyone present a wide view of the beautiful horizon. For dinner,
Roasted Rib-Eye of Beef, Caribbean Style Roasted Chicken, and
Potato-crusted Grouper are some delicious main courses this
extensive menu has to offer. As for the Chef’s Recommendations, Cold
Cream of Mango and Papaya or Glazed Chicken Wings are wonderful
choices too. For dessert, there is Crème Brûlée Cheesecake, Kentucky
Bourbon Pecan Pie, and Chocolate-Espresso Walnut Cake for a fine
ending to a fine dinner.
Palo
This adults only restaurant has a very elegant and intimate feel to
it. The Italian cuisine here is superb. Three different meals are
offered:
- High Tea (offered on 7-night
cruises only): dine on exquisite tea and cakes on the high seas.
This meal is only served on days at sea. There is a $5 dining
option charge per person for this meal. Attire is "cruise casual"
— no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.
- Brunch (offered on 7-nigh and
4-night cruises only): enjoy your complimentary glass of champagne
with this part buffet, part made to order menu. This meal is only
served on days at sea. There is a $10 dining option charge per
person for this meal. Attire is "cruise casual" — no shorts,
swimwear or tank tops.
- Dinner (offered on all cruises):
Savor Northern Italian specialties amidst the warmth of
candlelight and the elegance of a true gourmet experience. Top off
your memorable meal with an unforgettable dessert. This meal is
served daily. There is a $10 dining option charge per person for
this meal. Attire is dress shirt or jacket required for men; a
dress or pantsuit for women. If you had to choose only one of
these meals, dinner should be it. Besides, the amazing wine list,
Palo boasts such dishes as Pan Fried Tuna with Linguini Pasta,
Mustard Crusted Rack of Lamb, and Spaghetti Capone. If you are
looking for a an exquisite meal then look no further than a dinner
at Palo.
The Disney Cruise ships are almost
identical, but one difference they share is one restaurant. All of
the above dining experiences can be enjoyed on both ships, now we
will talk about the specialty restaurant of each ship.
Lumiere’s—Located on the Disney Wonder
Designed around the French theme of Beauty and the Beast, Lumiere’s
has ballroom feel to it. One whole wall of this restaurant is
dedicated to a mural right out of the Disney’s animated film. With
such items as Garlic-roasted Beef Tenderloin, Herb-crusted North
Atlantic Prime Fillet of Cod, and Roasted Duck, this continental
cuisine can be enjoyed with flare.
Triton’s—Located on the Disney Magic
Enjoy fine dining that is truly “under the sea” with the spectacular
seafood dishes that Triton’s has to offer. The Art Deco environment
of this restaurant portrays dazzling sea life with service fit for a
king. The menu is very similar to that of Lumiere's but adds a few
lighter items as well.
We’ve covered a lot on the Disney Cruise Line over the last few
months, and now it is time for you to experience on for yourself.
