  Sightseeing with Sarah- Paris, France

The Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Notre Dame, and finally romance. What comes to your mind when you hear these words? It should be Paris because that is my next travel destination. Hopefully you read my last article about London. If not, these two cities tie into a vacation called Adventures by Disney. You have tour guides almost wherever you go and it is an itinerary planned trip. This means you always have something fun to do. Even the kids have a blast. I sure did! During each day, though, you get a couple of hours for free time so you can go shopping, have a snack, or just chill out in your hotel room.

Okay, here we are on day five of our awesome vacation. Today, we woke up and instead of having to go down stairs and eat, we could order room service! It was great. Then, we were off to Notre Dame Cathedral. Maybe you’ve seen Hunchback of Notre Dame, well, that’s exactly where we went. Everything was there, especially the bell. That was only part of it though. To get to the bell, we had to climb 422 steps. But, it was totally worth it when we reached the top. The sights were amazing! You could see all over Paris, from the Eiffel Tower to Montmartre. It was a lot easier going down the steps than going up. After that, we had lunch on our own. My family and I ate with another family that we met on the trip.

After that, we went up to Montmartre. We took a little capsule similar to a ski lift to the top of the mountain. When we reached the top, our Adventure Guides took us to a hole in the wall place. It had tables and chairs. The adults were going to a wine tasting while the Junior Adventurers had themselves drawn by a local artist. They came out awesome!

We then went on back to the hotel to freshen up for the coolest place to eat dinner. It was at Altitude 95, which is inside the Eiffel Tower! The reason they call it Altitude 95 is because it is 95 meters above the ground. Dinner was so amazing. I had a chicken breast and it was delicious! After dinner, we had the opportunity to go all the way to the top. My family and I didn’t because the line to the elevator was too long of a wait. Also, it was almost 50˚ outside! While my family and part of the rest of the group waited, we watched the Eiffel Tower sparkle and shine. That day was amazing!

On day six of our vacation, we ordered room service for breakfast. After that, we had an optional morning walk. My parents went on it while my brother and I stayed in the hotel room to sleep. Buy the time my parents came back to the hotel room, me and my brother were already ready to start the new day.

The next place we were headed: The Louvre. It was literally a ten minute walk from our hotel. For the adults, they got a tour guide to show them around. For us, the Junior Adventurers, we had our Adventure Guides take us on a scavenger hunt. We all received a little book with a sentence describing the artwork and a picture of the artwork. But, this was no ordinary picture, it had a special effect to it, and we had to figure out what the artwork was. For example, one of the paintings we had to find was “The Coronation of Napoleon”. The special effect: it was all color pixels. Once we found it, we would write it down in the book. We did this for all of the artwork. Then, in the back of the book, we would write the artwork down and there would be certain number for certain letters. For example, letter ‘F’would be number ‘2’. We would fill in the letters with the correct number. Our end message was “She waits for you at Versailles”. We had no idea what that meant. We asked our Adventure Guides and they wouldn’t tell us. All of the Junior Adventurers had a great time in the Louvre.

After the Louvre, we had lunch at a place called Café Renard. We had a traditional lunch. It was ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a baguette. It was very good. After lunch, we had free time and dinner on our own. For free time, me and my mom, my friend Kady, her mom, her dad, and her little sister Caroline went walking. We found this little carousel and little did we know it was the oldest one is Paris! Kady, Caroline, and I went on it about four times! We had such a blast! Kady and I felt like we were five years old again!

Then, my family and her family went back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. Our families had dinner together inside the oldest building in Paris. The restaurant was Nicolas Flamel. The atmosphere was very cool. It’s definitely a place to go. We then went on back to the hotel for our second to last day in Paris.
On day seven of our vacation, there was another early-bird walk. Which, as usual, I didn’t go on this one. I’m not really a morning person. After the morning walk, we were off to Château de Versailles. We had a pretty exciting tour.

We saw where the king woke up every morning and a very familiar painting. Remember our puzzle that I did in the Louvre? The answer was “She waits for you at Versailles”. Well, the adventure guides did end up telling us one clue about the riddle. They said to look for “The Pink Lady”. In the last room we went in, was the same painting called “The Coronation of Napoleon”. There was only one difference: the painter loved one of the Napoleon’s sisters so much that he painted the exact painting all over again with her wearing a pink dress instead of a white one like the other sisters.

After our great discovery, we had lunch at a café called La Flotille. It was almost like an American café except it was more elegant. Then, we went biking through the Gardens of Versailles. It was so cool! My brother and I went with Roni, one of the Adventure Guides, down this huge hill! It was so much fun! After that, we took our bus back to the hotel to freshen up for our farewell dinner at La Duree. After the meal was served, we had a presentation of all the pictures the adventure guides took of us during the trip. It was amazing.

Then, it was time to go back to the hotel. The next day was sadly our last. None of us wanted to leave because we had such a great time! I hope to see you on my next travel destination!
