Water Theme Parks Walt Disney World® Resort
If your image
of a water park is a bunch of nondescript slides held up by exposed wooden
superstructures surrounded by an over glorified city pool then you are in for a
special treat.
Walt Disney World® Resort is currently operating two water theme parks and
although the ultimate goal of both is the same, a relaxing, fun and refreshing
destination, the differences between the two are note worthy.
Disney's
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is the more diverse of the two offering a greater variety of
attractions, which will appeal to a more varied group of guests. In addition it
is more frequently sought out by families with younger children.
Disney's
Blizzard Beach Water Park is certainly more exotic both in theme and individual
attractions and enjoyed by families with older children, particularly pre-teens
and teenagers.
In the next two issues of our newsletter we will take an individual look at
what each of these two wonderful water theme parks has to offer

Boma
Breakfast Buffet
Located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
I had for quite some time postponed staying at
Disney’s Animal
Kingdom Lodge. My thinking was that I would feel isolated from the
“Magic” considering that it was located on the western most portion
of the Walt Disney World® Resort.
Circumstances and opportunity had given way to reason and concern
and I was now several days into what was turning out to be a
wonderful stay. My worries about convenience and location had turned
out to be a non-issue due to the direct and frequent transportation,
and I had been thoroughly caught up in the allure of it’s African
Wildlife theme, that was so beautifully executed throughout the
resort.
Breakfast for me is an important and almost sacred meal and it is
for this reason that I had postponed trying the all-you-care-to-eat
African inspired breakfast buffet that is presented each morning at
Boma, which is one of the resorts two full service restaurants.
Would my fear of a plate full of unrecognizable breakfast food and a
early morning disappointment be realized or would I be pleasantly
surprised? For the answer to that question and a peek at the menu

Water Theme Park Tips
One cooler per family or group with your food and drinks are
permitted excluding glass containers and alcoholic beverages
Arrive early the crowds build quickly and the best spots (shade and
location) go fast. What do we mean by early? Arrive at the official
park opening time and search a location that will suit your needs. You
can claim a locker or rent towels later.
During the summer months both water parks can be very crowded. You
should select a weekday if possible this way you will avoid the
locals that populate the weekends.
To avoid the crowds and if your admission media is inclusive of the
water parks (you are not buying a separate one day water park
admission) you may want to go in the mid to late afternoon. The
crowds will often thin out and the waits for the slides and other
attractions will be at their lowest.
Wear water shoes or sandals. The walkways are frequently sprayed
with water but you will find hot spots.
Leave Dads 35mm you gave him for his birthday back at the resort and
pick up a disposable waterproof camera. You will still be able to
capture the fun without the worry
