Sci-Fi Dine In Theater
Located in the Disney-Hollywood Studios
Lunch

The Sci Fi Dine In Restaurant is themed to a 1950's styled drive-in, where it's always night and movie clips and previews from such classics as, "The Son of Blob" and "The Fifty Foot Woman", run continuously on a drive-in movie screen.

The fun began as our hostess who was on roller skates helped us find our 1957 Chevy, which was already parked. Having frequented Drive In Theaters with my family throughout the 1950’s and 60’s gave me a leg up on the kids when came to understanding what had been create in this uniquely themed restaurant. Even though the kids may not have exactly understood all the details that help fashion this throw to another age it did not seem to diminish the fun that they were obliviously having.

Our server James' continued with the pre-lunch entertainment by asking the 9 year old for his driver’s license, after all he was sitting in the front seat. Other house specialties included yelling out with other cast members on que, warning a monster or two that they were about to be done in and issuing our 8 and 9 year olds an "official" Sci Fi drivers license. Through it all James was able to juggle attentive service with Sci Fi silliness, both of which enhanced the dining experience.

The menu was not extensive but adequate, including stacked sandwiches, burgers, seafood and pasta. The appetizers are listed as Previews, the Entrees as the Main Feature and deserts are aptly referred to as Closing Credits. Our eight and nine year olds enjoyed a children’s chicken nuggets combo and a grilled cheese sandwich, which were washed down with a couple of vanilla shakes. The kids also received a cupcake for dessert served on a Sci-Fi souvenir Frisbee. Mom and Dad each enjoyed a burger platter with a side of onion rings, a shared vanilla shake. The portions of Main Features where exceptionally large, which caused even this hungry crew to struggle to the finish line.

The combination of a fun place to eat and some comfort food both teamed up to provide a vacation treat for everyone.
