Lunch Review

For our last visit to Disney we decided to explore one of the few restaurants in downtown Disney that we had not experienced yet. The Portobello Yacht Club is located in the Downtown Disney Marketplace right next to Fulton’s Crab House and boasts authentic Italian cuisine with its beautiful waterside view. Since it was such a nice day, we decided to have our lunch in the small, outside area of this restaurant. For a more genuine dining experience I recommend sitting inside, as the outside does not show much Italian influence.

Myself and two dining companions had a tough time deciding on our entrees since the menu sports such a nice variety of dishes. They finally each agreed on the Grilled Grouper while I chose the Farfalle with Chicken. As we waited for our entrees we feasted on the rolls and special garlic spread that our waiter, Tim, provided for us. The spread was basically a cooked clove of garlic, but it had the consistency of butter for easy spreading.

Not long after we finished this off than our main course arrived and we could not have been happier. The grouper was served charcoal grilled with red peppers in a light lemon sauce. My farfalle was an enormous dish full of butterfly pasta, thin asparagus slices, tiny tomatoes, and more than enough chicken all mixed with a light cream sauce. Although the menu says that this dish also is served with snowpeas, I did not spot or taste any. This did not however disappoint me in the least. The grouper was also amazing, cooked perfectly and nicely accentuated by the lemon sauce.

Originally we were planning on trying one of the Yacht Club’s temping desserts, but our entrees were quite larger than we expected, so it was all we could do to finish them. Our entire experience at the Portobello Yacht Club could not have been better.

Fried Calamari - milk marinated tender rings of crispy fried calamari with traditional homemade marinara sauce and our signature roasted garlic tartar sauce $9.95

Portobello Mushroom with Polenta - wood-roasted Portobello mushroom sliced thin with Gorgonzola cheese, warm creamy soft polenta and rosemary wine sauce $9.95

Caprese - sliced tomato, shaved red onion, mozzarella cheese, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and basil $9.95

Pizza

Create Your Own Pizza or Calzone - plum tomatoes, mozzarella, and your choice of three toppings below: mushrooms, Kalamata olives, sausage, spinach, onions, sundried tomatoes, prosciutto, pancetta or anchovies $10.95

Four Cheeses - mozzarella, gorgonzola, parmigiano and fontina cheeses $9.95
