Pecos Bill Café
Located in the Magic Kingdom
Lunch

The modest exterior did not really give any indication as to what we found inside this large counter service restaurant. Inside there were several large dining areas, each with its own collection of table and chairs that seemed to stretch out in every direction.

The theme may have 1880’s, but the actual operation was nothing short of 21st century. The multi color, brightly illuminated menu is displayed overhead easily identifying its offerings. Our chloices for lunch were dominated by Combo Meal selections, which were limited to hamburgers and hotdogs. There was also a modest attempt to capture the health conscience crowd with a Chicken Wrap and Salad with Chicken dish.

After a surprisingly short wait considering the number of people that were lined up in front of the counter I placed my order and was quickly handed my ¼ Pound Cheeseburger and fries. I carried my lunch on its tray to the “fixins” bar. This elaborate collection of condiments featured such toppings as, sautéed onions, mushrooms, mustard, catsup and mayo.

Scouting out a table however would prove to be a greater challenge. There were a seemingly infinite number of tables all in varying stages of use and it was just a matter of locating one, that was unoccupied and claiming it first. After having spotted an empty table I then found myself with the task of actually negotiating my way to it. Each of the dining areas were literally packed with tables and chairs that were so close together that it seemed unreasonably difficult to make your way around.

Do to its location and high profile Pecos Bills is enormously popular at lunch time, which can make it less than perfect choice on a busy day. Take away the congestion created by so many other guests all vying for the same mealtime prize and what you have is a pretty tasty burger, and great condiment bar and a convenient location. So my recommendation is that if you are in the mood for a burger and fries stop in at Pecos Bills, but either around 11:00am or after 1:30pm.
