Located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Dinner
With
a degree of excitement to go along with our appetites we head to
Disney’s Polynesian Resort, which plays host to this
all-you-care-to-eat Walt Disney World Resort favorite. The reason
for the excitement was the belief that tonight we would be sharing
not only a meal, but also a dining experience.
After checking in at the podium and exchanging our priority seating
number for a small electronic device that would summon us when our
table was ready. We took a seat on the second floor landing where we
were treated to the beautiful decor of the Grand Ceremonial House
that is the center of nighttime activity for The Polynesian Resort.
Within ten minutes our electronic device was activated to alert us
that our table was ready and reminded us that we were not here to
people watch, but to dine Polynesian style. As we were escorted to
our table we walked past the cutting table where we caught a glimpse
of the Pineapple Coconut bread that we would soon be treated to.
Following our drink order our server Carlos, who addressed everyone
as cousin, brought a Lazy Susan to our table where we were presented
with “Starters”, which included: Stir Fried Green Beans and Onions,
Salad with Honey Line Dressing, Shrimp & Vegetable Wonton, Honey
Coriander Chicken Wings, Stir-Fried Rice. The stand outs from among
the “Starters” were the Green Beans, which were crisp and tasty and
the Shrimp & Vegetable Wonton.
As we finished our appetizers our server appeared with long skewers
of Grilled Tiger Shrimp, Marinated Sirloin Steak, Mesquite Seasoned
Turkey and Barbeque Pork. The Grilled Tiger Shrimp was a Peel and
Eat proposition, which for some reason I always found to be a small
annoyance, but an annoyance none-the-less. The Marinated Sirloin
Steak was prepared Medium, which was more done than I prefer my
steak to be. When I question the server he said that it was
necessary to do this in order to accommodate everyone and that it
could not be individualized. The surprise stand out was the Mesquite
Seasoned Turkey and Barbeque Pork, which at our servers suggestion
we complimented with the Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce. In addition to
the Peanut Butter we were also served Fruit and a Ginger Dipping
Sauce.
Although we did not have any children in our party there are
alternative children selections available upon request.
In addition to the alternative children’s menu families are also
treated to a children’s Hula-Hoop contest. Tonight’s contest was
presented by Lupo who not only instructed and encouraged the kids,
but also provided entertainment with a song.
With our appetites satisfied we turned our attention to Cinderella
Castle, which was on display across Seven Seas Lagoon and
illuminated in an array of ever changing colors. A little fore
thought and planning had allowed us to finish our dinner just as the
presentation of “Wishes” the nightly fireworks display was about to
begin. With perfect timing Carlos had cleared our table with
exception of a dish of fresh chunk pineapple and a Carmel dip.
Sipping our coffee, savoring our pineapple dessert and enjoying the
beautiful pyrotechnic display, with the music from The Magic Kingdom
piped into the dining room we all agreed that tonight could not have
been any more special.
