Lunch
The cast member
who had just given the pronouncement that the Evans’ Family from the
great Territory of Florida would now be seated was now leading us
through the multi tiered dining area of this is a recreation of a
colonial inn.
Having been directed to a table near the back of the restaurant we
accepted the menus we were handed and the reassurance that our
server would be right with us. As we settled in I noticed that
although this is a rather large restaurant the way it is broken up
into smaller more intimate sections provided both a relaxing and
comfortable atmosphere. The subdued lighting along with this subdued
environment was a welcomed break from the Florida sun and the
crowded theme park we had found that morning.
Our server was quick to appear and take our drink orders, so we
turned our attention to the menus and the lunch items it offered. I
was surprised at the limited number of sandwiches offerings, which
included only three to be exact and lone salad from which to choose
from. The menu seemed to be dominated by more complete entrees,
including such noon time favorites as “New England Pot Roast” and
“Pilgrims' Feast”, which is consisted of roast turkey with herb
bread dressing, mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable.
We settled on the “Old Glory”, which is a 1/2 pound burger topped
with bacon and cheddar or mushrooms and provolone, served with
French fried potatoes.
Our hamburger was cooked medium well, but still managed to be juicy
and delicious.
The relaxed manner that our server displayed and the familiarity it
in encourage was enough for us to join in conversations with guests
that were seated at tables nearest to us.
The simple conversation, the comfortable atmosphere, the friendly
and efficient service provided us a welcomed break from the theme
park crowds. So in the end the limited selection of my lunch time
favorites was overcome by the relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
