Le Cellier Steakhouse
Located in Epcot - Canada Pavilion
Lunch

Lunch here like lunch at the other restaurants in Epcot® World Showcase is an opportunity to enjoy a taste of the host country's cuisine, without quite the same degree of sticker shock that will be found at dinner.

Our server Pat, who is from Vancouver, is one of the many natives from the host country that make up a large portion of the wait staff. Pat, who was half way through his one year work experience at Walt Disney World, was not only enthusiastic and pleasant, but also knowledgeable and a great help offering explanations about the various selections found on the menu.

One of the many interesting and informative insights he offered up was a description and history of the breads he placed on our table. The selections included Pretzel Bread, which represented the second largest October fest in the world held annually in Ontario. The Sourdough Bread, which plays a part in the spring festival in the Yukon and the Multigrain Bread that, represented the Alberta Province, which produces over 50% of the world’s grain.

The lunch menu offered a wide variety of appetizers, entrée salads, sandwiches and entrees that allowed the three of us in our group to satisfy varying degrees of hunger.

A staple on the menu is the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. The fifty-degree temperatures outside made this scrumptious soup, which is prepared with among other ingredients Smoked Bacon and Moosehead Beer an easy choice for all three of us.

In addition to the soup I ordered the Le Cellier Grilled Steak Burger topped with cheddar cheese and served with French fries. This being a steakhouse my expectation for this burger was high and I wasn’t disappointed. My burger remained tasty and not a bit dried out, even though the chef had followed my instructions and prepared it well done.

One of my lunch companions in addition to his Cheddar Cheese Soup ordered the 10 oz. New York Strip Steak with roasted Yukon potatoes, roasted garlic, herb vinaigrette and arugula butter. I accepted his offering of a taste, and even though I had enjoyed a New York Strip for lunch the day before at The Hollywood Brown Derby, I thought it to be exceptional. The combination of tastes incorporated into this fine cut of beef made me envious.

Our other companion made his Cheddar Cheese Soup his lunch as he worked his way across the Canadian Bread Basket.

Once again the enthusiasm of server and the well-prepared food made this subterranean hideaway in the Canadian pavilion worth coming back to.

You also may want to try the Espresso Cheesecake, it was excellent.
