Grand Floridian Café
Located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Lunch - January 2003

It was day one of a four day trip to Walt Disney World and it was already a little after 12 o’clock noon, so the question of where we would have lunch came up. Finding ourselves within eyesight and only a short monorail ride from of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa made this an easy decision. The Grand Floridian Café located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, which has always been a favorite for lunch, was the obvious choice.

Terri our server was quick to take our drink orders and deliver the complimentary house bread and olive oil. After shaking the cruet and pouring out the combination of garlic, olive oil and four Szechwan pepper corns (white, black, green and pink) Terri then grated some fresh Parmesan cheese over the plate. A basket of freshly baked breads that included sourdough rolls, foccia bread and a multi grain rolls were offered and displayed in a basket that was placed on the table. We hardly gave the time it took for our order to be prepared and served a second thought as we greedily shared this delicious house specialty.

About the time we finished the bread and olive oil Terri brought us our New York-style Reuben and Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches that we had ordered. The restaurant as it often is at lunch was not crowded and provided an unhurried and relaxing atmosphere that allowed enough time to work on the large portions that were presented.

The excellent food along with the friendly and efficient service only reinforced our belief that this one of the best lunch spots in all of Walt Disney World.

Disney Tip: Consider sharing one of the sandwich platters. The portion are huge and easily satisfy the appetite of two.
