The Crystal Palace
Located in the Magic Kingdom
Lunch
Heading
past Casey’s Corner a counter service restaurant that stand at the
end of Main Street with its offering of Hot Dogs and fries I had my
sights set on something a little more substantial.
I had opted for The Crystal Palace restaurant that is located near
the hub of the Magic Kingdom and is themed with turn of the century
architecture offering guests a taste of an earlier age.
As I made my way onto the elevated verandah with Cinderella Castle
in the background a sense of excitement was now a companion to my
steadily increasing appetite. The fact that it was nearly 2:00pm and
seeing how the main lunch crowd and come and gone allowed me to be
almost immediately seated. My server was also quick to appear and
after taking my drink order gave me permission to head to the
buffet. This lunch buffet is rather extensive with a large selection
of both hot and cold offerings. The salad bar presented fresh greens
with any number of toppings and salad dressings. Working my way past
the cold cut meats I had the opportunity to fill my plate with
sliced roast beef, turkey, salami and ham, as well as chicken salad
and tuna salad. Next was a serving station offering a wide variety
of fresh slice breads, which could be used to build a personalized
sandwich. The hot entrees included about a half a dozen tempting
selections. I found room on my plate for some sample size portions
of the Sheppard’s pie, Cesar pasta and Sausage and Peppers and
Onions.
Returning to my table I found that not only my beverage was waiting
for me, but also a picturesque view of Cinderella Castle. Starting
with my salad that was both fresh and tasty I began to satisfy the
hunger that I had brought with me, This well prepared and nicely
presented lunch was interrupted on several occasion by a wondering
band of characters that included Eyorre, Tiger, Piglet and of course
Winnie The Pooh. This gang was more than willing to indulge this
“Big Kid” with a few hugs and a little bit of that special Disney
Magic that comes with a character dining experience.
Timing my return trips to the buffet, so as not to miss a character
encounter I replenished my plate with a little bit of Fruit Salad
and finally finishing off with a small taste from the dessert bar.
Having enjoyed some fresh, appetizing and well prepared food that
was offered up by some gracious Disney Cast members I headed back
out into The Magic Kingdom both satisfied and refreshed in search of
some more magic and fun.
