Cinderella’s Royal Table
Located at Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom
Character Breakfast – July 2004
After checking in at the podium and
reassuring the cast member that everyone was present we were
escorted just inside the heavy double wooden doors that guarded the
entrance. Once inside we decided to take advantage of a meet and
greet photo opportunity for the kids with Fairy Godmother. After
waiting in line for roughly 10 or 15 minutes we were suddenly
summoned and told that we would have to move into the dining room
and claim our table. I could sense a little impatience from the cast
member as I told her we would be right with her. I figured Disney’s
efficiency could take a backseat, while the kids who were next in
line and giggling with excitement received a hug and a photo with
Fairy Godmother.
Following the winding staircase we headed further into the Castle
until the narrow passage way finally opened onto a multi leveled
dining room. There we were greeted by a cast member who addressed
the adults as Lords and Ladies, while the kids were addressed as
Princess or Prince.
One of my first thoughts after being seated was how beautifully the
table was set. The contrast that the table settings drew against the
white linen table cloth made for an elegant invitation to breakfast.
The table was preset with individual long stemmed glass fruit cups,
which contained a generous portion of assorted fresh fruit,
including kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, grapefruit, cantaloupe,
honeydew, pineapple and oranges. Also within reach of each guest was
a basket of fresh baked goods, including croissants, muffins, and
Cinnamon rolls. Our server Mark made a quick appearance and
familiarized himself with the first names of each child. For the
remainder of the breakfast he addressed each as Princess or Prince
and correctly referred to each of the five children by name. When
questioned Mark volunteered that he had been a cast member for 18
years and serving breakfast here for 3 years.
Breakfast here is all you care to eat and is served up in a
pre-plated fashion. Guests can choose from a traditional breakfast
and a lighter fare. The Traditional breakfast included scrambled
eggs, bacon, link sausage, stuffed French toast with blueberry
sauce, a hash brown potato and bacon casserole and a cheese stuffed
Danish that was battered and deep fried. The lighter fare was a
plate of low fat peach yogurt with granola and caramelized bananas.
The children’s breakfast included a plate of French toast sticks,
scrambled eggs and bacon.
As we waited for our breakfast the kids continued to look around the
room locating and naming each of the characters that were making
their way from table to table. One by one in no particular order and
seemingly not in a hurry, each character, which included Belle,
Princess Aroura, Mary Poppins, Cinderella and Snow White made their
appearance offering hugs and an opportunity for autographs and
photos. Perhaps due to the small number of tables that the
characters needed to make rounds at they seemed unrushed, which
allowed for a relaxing character experience.
Characters aside the meal was excellent. The deep fried cheese
Danish and hash brown potato and bacon casserole were both stand
outs. The service was attentive and playful, which only enhanced the
experience. So, with the combination of Dumbo circling just outside
the window, a stellar line up of Disney characters and a well
prepared breakfast accompanied by fine service I do believe our
expectations were not only met but exceeded.
