Located in the Italy Pavilion of Epcot
Above all else, Alfredo’s Ristorante is authentic. From the black
and white framed photos on the walls to the live accordion player in
the dining hall. The moment you check in you are transported to a
world of undoubtedly fine dining. This fabulous restaurant is tucked
away in the Italy pavilion of Epcot. It is beautifully decorated
with full painted walls and an authentic European style dining room.
After we were seated we went straight to deciding on what to eat. We
picked the “Calamari Fritti” for our appetizer, and it soon arrived.
Lightly fried squid in a special batter and a fabulous marinara
dipping sauce was an interesting start to a great dining experience.
For our main course I picked out the “Trittico Di Pasta,” which
typically comes with ziti, lasagna and pasta dumplings, but I
decided to substitute the famous fettuccini alfredo for the lasagna.
My dining companion decided on the “Specialita Del Giorno,” the
chef’s special of the day, which turned out to be salmon in a light
cheese sauce. While we waited for our entrees to arrive we enjoyed
the occasional music of the accordion player. This provided a truly
genuine feel for the real Italy.
We were soon joined by our delectable dishes and dug in right away.
My three pastas were outstanding. The fettuccini alfredo was
absolutely fabulous. Thin egg noodles in a light alfredo sauce. I
can’t imagine it tasting any better than it did. The baked ziti had
a great tomato sauce that tasted like it was made from the freshest
of tomatoes. The pasta dumplings, it turned out, were stuffed with
black truffles, which made this the best part of the dish.
Accompanied by mushrooms and a wonderful cream sauce, the dumplings
were a fine end to an overall excellent dish. My partner’s salmon
turned out to be a little dry, but the cheese sauce that accentuated
it was marvelous.
It was now time for us to pick our dessert. Our waitress, Francesca,
brought our a large silver platter with about six different desserts
on them. We decided to share the dessert sampler. This included
tiramisu, a light chocolate cake, and of course a canoli. The
tiramisu was the best I have ever tasted. The chocolate cake was
nice and light with some chocolate mousse in the middle. The canoli
was outstanding. The rest of the desserts were just larger portions
of what was on the sampler with the addition of an orange mousse.
Overall, our meal was very satisfying.
we felt like we really did have an authentic meal in Italy.
