Character Breakfast Buffet
This
impromptu dining decision left us with a destination for breakfast,
but with no priority seating. Attempting a character dining
experience of this magnitude without a priority seating is much like
looking for that must have Christmas Toy on Christmas Eve. Undaunted
we headed for this restaurants version of a hundred acre woods with
a buffet in search of a two top table.
There were a handful of other guests in the restaurants anteroom and
most of them seemed to be waiting for a photo opportunity with Mary
Poppins. The young cast member that was manning the podium that
guarded the entrance had not only a smile, but also the answer I was
hoping for. It would only be about a ten minute wait for a table.
So, not knowing when I might have the opportunity again I decided to
put this time to good use and fell in line for a photo with Mary
Poppins. Our table was ready just about the time I was thanking Mary
for the photo. I declined the offer of an autograph, as I didn’t
feel the need of a signature to validate the experience. Our luck
appeared to hit a speed bump when the table we were directed to was
located right next to the entrance. I would normally object to being
seated next to this high traffic location, but I was still riding
high from the Mary Poppins encountered, so I decided to go with the
flow.
Our server was quick to appear after we had settled in and after
taking our drink order gave us the green light for the buffet. Not
having to first plate up the kid’s breakfast was not only unusual,
but also afforded a more leisurely approach to this really large and
diverse breakfast presentation.
Some of the stand outs were the chilled strawberry soup and the
Cheese Blintz with Vanilla Sauce. The remainder of this buffet was
well populated with many breakfast standards.
The foods were fresh with cast members replenishing and tidying up
the buffet at an almost continuous pace.
As we sat comfortably enjoying our breakfast we had the pleasure of
visiting with Chip N Dale, The Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland,
Tigger and of course Pooh.
Did we enjoy this character dining experience as stand alone
parents? Would we tell the kids about our visit with Winnie the Pooh
and friends? The answer to the first question is a guiltless yes.
The answer to the second question is probably not.
