Tips On Dining Without The Kids and How To Make It Special

What Are You Kidding!
Looking for a quite dinner? Pick a restaurant in one of Disney’s resort hotels and not at one of the theme parks. During your search for this special night out focus on those restaurants found at Disney’s “Deluxe” hotels. Each of these resorts will offer at least one if not two or more restaurants where more adults than children can be found seated and enjoying their meal. This is not to say there are not a couple of fine dining experiences to be found within the theme parks where you can also avoid the stroller crowd, but the odds will be in your favor if you take a little extra time and select a restaurant at a Disney resort hotel.

You Can’t Get There From Here
During your hunt for the perfect night out take into consideration how you are going to get there. Disney’s internal transportation is designed and coordinated to operate using a system of hubs. This system may often require that you travel to a central hub and then onto your final destination. After dinner your will be required to travel back to the hub before you can head back to your home resort. This is particularly true when going from Disney resort to Disney resort. It is not uncommon for a one way trip between resorts to take upwards of an hour and a half.

Hey Taxi!
If you have your heart set on a restaurant that will require that you negotiate a maze of bus connections you may want to consider taking a taxi.
A taxi in Walt Disney World? You bet and for about the price of a round of cokes you can treat yourself to a little convenience and make the night seem even a little more special.
For example from Disney's BoardWalk to the Wilderness Lodge or Epcot to the Contemporary Resort will run you about ten dollars. Taxi's are not a part of The Walt Disney World Co., but are privately owned and operated.

Hey Buddy What’s The Rush?
If you have chosen a restaurant in one of the theme parks you may find that the service is a little hurried. Staff at the theme park restaurants will often at least appear to be trying to “turn the table over”. A clue to this may be when a server will try and take your whole order at once. Take control of your meal by first selecting your drinks and then ordering an appetizer. Tell the server you haven’t made up your mind and need more time to select an entrée. After your entrée enjoy an after dinner drink or coffee while you look over the dessert menu.

What About The Kids?
If you are fortunate enough to be staying at one of Disney’s deluxe resorts relax. Each resort has a child care center, which are called “Clubs” that are available to children ages 4-12, (children must be toilet trained). In room baby sitting services are also available for those that are younger. If you are staying at a Disney resort that does not offer one of these clubs, then simply select a restaurant at a Disney resort that does. The kids can come along and you can drop them off before heading to your special dinner and simply pick them up afterwards. You may want to consider a restaurant located at Disney’s BoardWalk such as the “Flying Fish” where you can also find some nighttime adult entertainment for after dinner. Simply utilize one of the “Clubs found at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club located nearby.
