Spend some time prior to departure exploring Los Angeles, the world center for fashion, entertainment and technology. The nearby city of Anaheim is home to Disneyland, Walt Disney's first theme park. Sail north along California's sweeping golden coast and arrive at San Francisco. Have your camera ready to capture iconic images, like Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge and cable cars navigating steep slopes past elaborate Victorian buildings. Arrive at the aptly named City of Gardens, Victoria, British Columbia. Explore the most famous, Butchart Gardens, or take a tour of Craigdarroch Castle. Before departing, be sure to visit the century-old Empress Hotel, the iconic symbol of the city. Vancouver is home to North America's third-largest park, Stanley Park. Hike the many trails, tour the aquarium, nature center or other recreational facilities.

The oldest part of Los Angeles offers Olvera Street, a quaint, colorful Mexican marketplace. Union Square in San Francisco is a premier shopping destination, with an eclectic mix of upscale department stores, boutiques, art galleries, souvenir shops, theaters and restaurants. Victoria, proudly influenced by all things British, provides a superb shopping scene, with many stores specializing in imported British wares, textiles and food. No visit to Vancouver would be complete without a trip to Granville Island, a 35-acre peninsula brimming with shops, eateries, theatres and art galleries?an art lover and treasure hunter's paradise.
